In order to strengthen the Lexan technology team we are looking for a Process Engineer who will be responsible for implementing and delivering on programs including platform activities, new product introduction and plant related support matters. Within this role you will work in conjunction with a larger global team with heavy focus on Bergen op Zoom related projects.
Job Description:
Lead process development and improvement programs for our global plastics businesses.
Plan and manage projects to develop and advance new process technology and chemistry from the laboratory scale, through the pilot scale & commercial implementation, using statistically-based tools and processing modelling (ASPEN) to establish product and process capability.
Guide lab technicians and establish effective interaction with manufacturing / sourcing / technology teams both in Bergen op Zoom and its sister-plant in US.
Work with manufacturing operations to identify opportunities for productivity, quality and throughput improvements, then developing and implementing process technology to achieve those goals.
Typical Project Assignments:
Development and scale-up of processes to manufacture new intermediates or resins, including lab & pilot-scale testing, evaluation of equipment options, and commercial trials;
Testing of new chemistry candidates and/or developing proper reactor procedures;
Evaluation of separations capability using both experimental testing and process simulation tools;
Analysis of commercial data to identify strategies for reducing materials & utility usages; mass and energy Balances; process troubleshooting and optimization;
Customer interaction and support as necessary.
Kandidaat profiel
Msc in Chemical Engineering with relevant background. PhD degree is an advantage.
3-4+ years of relevant industrial experience.
Strong background in fundamental engineering and/or polymer principles required.
Strong understanding of free radical polymerization technology, basic chemistry and reactive extrusion is desired.
Ability to think creatively, communicate ideas effectively in both research and manufacturing environments, handle diverse responsibilities, the willingness to be a team player, work in a global environment and the ability to lead teams successfully.
Experience in project management and demonstrated ability to prioritize, balance, and deliver on several simultaneous projects.
Familiarity with process simulation software (ASPEN) and experimental design/statistics is a plus.
